Dear Alpha Xi Delta Sisters:
We are very excited to present this year's calendar of events. We start with a potluck dinner and guest speaker on "Autism Speaks" in September and a private tour of the National Cathedral in October. This is followed by our annual gift exchange that brings us into the New Year where we will be hosting a presentation on technology and how to use it in February, and a speaker on cruises in March. We wrap up the year with Founder's Day at Cedar Knoll Inn Restaurant in April, and in May, a casual supper with officer installation. In addition to this, we ask you to join us for lunch on the last Tuesday of every month. Please see our schedule for more details.
For philanthropy this year, we will be looking for volunteers for the Autism Speaks Walk and Carnival on the National Mall on October 31; we will be working side-by-side with the Alpha Xi Delta chapter at George Mason University. On April 21 we will be marking our sixth year helping to improve a DC school as part of the Hands on DC project.
One of the ongoing achievements of our association has been the ability to fund our philanthropic efforts year after year. We have been able to do this primarily through the success of our annual pecan sales, which have been widely supported by our dedicated members. If you would like to participate in this year’s fundraiser, contact Nadine Leisz, our philanthropy chair. You can also send in your membership dues to Dawn Winkler or bring them to an upcoming meeting. Dues are $25 and 2009 college graduates are free.
The Northern Virginia Alumnae Association is a wonderful organization, and I am proud to serve as your President. We have a large and diverse membership, and we are always happy to welcome newcomers. Whether you are new to the area or have been out of touch for a while, please join us this year!
Fraternally,
Beth Ann Eadie
President, Northern Virginia Alumnae Association
